Job Purpose

The Senior Engineer, Cathodic Protection provides professional and technical expertise in the design, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cathodic protection systems. The role supports engineering and operational teams by ensuring effective corrosion protection for buried pipelines, storage tanks, vessels, and marine structures while maintaining compliance with ADNOC standards and international best practices.

The position also drives innovation, improves corrosion control strategies, supports project execution, and mentors engineering professionals in cathodic protection technologies.


Key Responsibilities

Cathodic Protection Engineering

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Cathodic Protection (CP) activities.
  • Design and review cathodic protection systems.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and operation of CP systems.
  • Monitor CP system performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot cathodic protection issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company and international standards.

Corrosion Protection and Asset Integrity

  • Protect buried pipelines and underground facilities from corrosion.
  • Ensure corrosion protection for marine structures.
  • Support internal protection of storage tanks and vessels.
  • Improve long-term asset integrity and equipment reliability.
  • Develop corrosion prevention strategies.
  • Monitor corrosion risks throughout asset life cycles.

Engineering Standards and Technical Support

  • Develop and update cathodic protection procedures.
  • Review engineering standards and specifications.

  • Develop technical competency within the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Corrosion Science

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

OR

  • Equivalent Engineering or Science qualification

Experience Required

Applicants should have:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in corrosion engineering design.
  • At least 5 years in a senior engineering role.
  • Extensive experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of cathodic protection systems.
  • Experience supporting major engineering projects and asset integrity programs.

Professional Certification

Preferred certification:

  • AMPP/NACE Certified Cathodic Protection Technologist (or equivalent/higher certification in Cathodic Protection)
