The New England Center for Children – GCC Division is looking for an energetic, skilled, and passionate team player to lead our Allied Health department in the United Arab Emirates. The Allied Health Manager will manage an SLP/OT Outpatient Clinic, supervise specialists across locations, and provide clinical input to cases.
The New England Center for Children Inc. provides a full range of educational, residential, and treatment programs designed to help children reach their full potential. The GCC Consulting Division is an expanding department in the New England Center for Children with a mission of providing training, clinical, and educational services to a wide range of students and schools in the UAE, the GCC, and the surrounding area.
The Allied Health department provides Speech and Language and Occupational Therapy services to clients and their families across all nationalities. The goal of reaching age-appropriate developmental milestones serves as the foundation of all our services. Each program has been developed to address varying skills and multiple levels of functioning.The department serves clients from the age of 2 across a wide range of diagnoses, including children with autism. The services provided by the department are designed to accommodate a broad range of functional levels and varying degrees of disability.
The Allied Health Manager role is open to Occupational Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists. It requires relocation to Dubai, United Arab Emirates and operates within an interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Administrative
- Contributes to the development of policies and procedures for both staff and families.
- Establishes an effective working relationship with private and public agencies including schools and licensing agencies.
- Helps to determine future goals of the department and works with the Executive Director to develop or modify systems to meet these goals.
- Attend all and lead all allied health meetings or delegate as appropriate.
- Lead the interviewing and hiring process for new employees.
- Oversee the implementation of processes for new requests for services and intakes
- Diagnostic
- Oversees the administration of assessments and/or screeners to clients as part of the intake assessment process
- Oversees and assists in Augmentative and Alternative Communication assessment and device matching
- Reviews written reports and attends initial intake meetings
- Supervisory
- Supports with the onboarding process for of all new employees
- Works with the Senior SLP, SLPs and OTs to monitor staff performance on an ongoing basis.
- In collaboration with the therapists, assures that all staff performance variables are measured and remedied in a timely fashion
- Ensures that annual staff evaluations are completed and presented to each therapist
- Refers sensitive client and family issues to Executive Director as needed.
- Ensure communication with the Executive Director in regards to staffing needs and upcoming staffing needs in a timely manner
- Clinical/Educational
- Supports therapists in supervising clients, any personnel, and caring for their physical, emotional health and safety, recognizing their worth, affirming their abilities, and striving to promote dignity in all relationships.
- If needed, establishes a Peer Review process to monitor client progress and coordinate remediation strategies
- Responsible for monitoring and assuring that all client performance variables are measured and remedied in a timely fashion
- Helps therapists oversee the implementation of ACE®
Supervises therapists in monitoring client progress and program issues so that clients are provided with:
– An evidence-based program for each ITP objective as it relates to each discipline
– An educational program using the ACE® curriculum, as appropriate
– Continuous data collection and monitoring
– A team of trained therapists to implement programs
Train and monitor speech objectives and data systems to ensure that progress is made and that lack of progress is met with timely changes in teaching strategies
Assist with clients as needed and if therapists aren’t available
Attend, participate in, and lead staff development for therapists or delegate to them as appropriate General Works directly and effectively with the therapists to ensure that all clients are making progress and staff have a positive working environment
Represents the New England Center for Children in a positive and professional manner
Follows the New England Center for Children policies and identifies inconsistencies
Works effectively and professionally with all private and public individuals
Shows a positive and supportive attitude toward the New England Center for Children
Accepts and utilizes feedback from staff and supervisors
Finds professional development opportunities in areas for skill growth
Creates a culture in the clinic that provides a supportive, positive environment for all staff and clients
Communicate with, and be a positive role model, for clients, families, staff and co-workers
Qualifications Required:
- Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology or Occupational Therapy
- Board Certification (ASHA, AOTA, CAOT, SAC, or similar)
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills
- Minimum three years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- A commitment to working with young people with developmental disabilities
- Energetic, motivated and flexible
Preferred:
- 2 years of experience in management of clients and staff
- Background or experience in applied behavior analysis
