About the job
This role will provide strategic as well as pragmatic Legal & Compliance guidance and solutions to Edwards Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (EEMEA) leadership, commercial teams and functions.
By establishing strong and proactive relationships with business leaders at EEMEA and local level, this role acts as a strategic thought partner for Edwards’ EEMEA business and will develop and implement Legal & Compliance strategies, which will enable business success and promote patient wellbeing.
In close collaboration with other functions (e.g. HR, Regulatory, Internal Audit, Finance, etc) this role handles complex Legal & Compliance issues in-line with legal-, industry- or internal standards, and communicates to the appropriate levels within the organization (functionally and with business partners).
This role provides legal guidance and serves as advisor to management to provide complex direction and support to teams to execute enterprise-level projects, initiatives and/or programs (e.g., legal research, recommendations on courses of action, contract review, drafting and negotiating agreements, review and interpretation of legislation, document review in litigation, and subject matter specific projects).
This role further acts as proactive business partner on all Compliance topics related to the EEMEA area and spearheads the execution of the Corporate Compliance program (e.g. act as matter expert for local Compliance questions, drive and ensure a culture of Ethics & Compliance, support
Essential Skills & Requirements for the role:
- Qualified lawyer in one of EEMEA’s jurisdictions or equivalent
- Solid Experience in a reputable law firm or in-house legal department
- Experience in managing a Compliance program across multiple jurisdictions
- Relevant industry experience would be an asset (e.g., medical device, pharmaceuticals, etc.) or in a highly regulated environment
- Excellent analytical, detail-oriented, organized and information seeking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives
- Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels and proactively escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in the organization
- Ability to represent leadership on programs or org-specific strategic initiatives within multiple areas, interfacing with project managers, legal team and leadership team
- Ability to consult in program setting within multiple financial areas, deeper or more dedicated advisory role, interfacing with more senior management
- Ability to provide leadership to outsourcing partners on a directive level, participates on medium scale RFP
- Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
