Ramadan is the most sacred month of the year for Muslims around the world. They fast during the day in commemoration of the revelation of the Quran. Sehri and Iftar are highly important to Muslims during this blessed month. Sehri is the meal eaten early in the morning before sunrise, which marks the start of the fasting hours. Iftar is the meal which is consumed at sunset to break the fast.

Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, which can be a fast of 11 to 16 hours, depending on the time of year. This fasting period lasts for 29 to 30 days.

BUTTER CHICKEN RECIPE FOR YOUR MEAL
Here’s a quick recipe for butter chicken you can try at home this Ramadan:
Ingredients Needed
- Boneless, skinless chicken breast
- Salt
- Pepper
- Chili powder
- Turmeric
- Unsalted butter
- Yellow onion
- Garam masala
- Ground cumin
- Cayenne pepper
- Ginger
- Garlic
- Cinnamon stick
- Tomato sauce
- Water
- Heavy cream
- Cooked rice
- Fresh cilantro
Method of Preparation
- In a big bowl, coat the chicken with salt, pepper, 1 teaspoon of chilli powder, and turmeric. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large pot on medium heat. Cook the chicken until browned, then take it out of the pot.
- Melt another 2 tablespoons of butter in the pot. Add the onion, garam masala, remaining teaspoon of chilli powder, cumin, ginger, garlic, cayenne, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Cook until it smells really good.
- Add the tomato sauce and let it simmer.
- Pour in the water and cream, and let it simmer again.
- Put the chicken back in the pot, cover it, and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Mix in 2 more tablespoons of butter and add extra salt and pepper if needed.
- Serve the chicken over rice and sprinkle cilantro on top.
