About the Role

As a Power Cable Specialist Aramco relies on within the Technical Services Division, your core function will be providing high-level technical guidance to guarantee the safety, reliability, and performance of Aramco’s vast electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure. You will oversee underground cable designs, evaluate system health, apply innovative technologies, and conduct failure investigations across medium-voltage (up to 36 kV) and high-voltage (up to 230 kV) networks.


Key Responsibilities

Design Validation & Technical Assurance

  • Review and validate underground power cable designs—including conductor sizing, installation methodologies, shield grounding, and thermal performance.
  • Ensure cable assets fully comply with Aramco internal standards, best practices, and applicable national/international regulations for MV cables up to 36 kV and HV cables up to 230 kV.
  • Advise on optimal cable routing, clearances, crossing spacing, and protection methods where cables intersect pipelines, roadways, or hazardous areas.

System Integrity & Root Cause Analysis

  • Recommend grounding and bonding strategies for cable shields and sheaths to minimize induced voltages and circulating currents.
  • Lead and participate in root cause failure analysis (RCA) on cable systems, recommending corrective measures to prevent recurrences and optimize network reliability.
  • Formulate and implement comprehensive strategies, policies, and procedural frameworks for assessing the ongoing condition and health of power cable assets.

Technical Advisory & Workforce Mentorship

  • Provide expert engineering consulting to internal project teams, contractors, and external stakeholders on underground cable construction, design, and safety.
  • Mentor junior electrical engineers and technical staff while supporting specialized internal training and e-learning initiatives on underground power cable systems.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
