Centibillionaire Mukesh Ambani’s wife, Nita Ambani, once revealed that she continued to work after marrying the now-richest person of Asia and was paid only INR800 a month for that job.

An old clip of the Ambanis’ interview with Indian actress and talk show host Simi Garewal has recently resurfaced in which Nita had revealed that she continued to work after her marriage to the chairperson of Reliance Industries.

In the clip, Nita had shared that she started her professional career as a teacher at Sunflower Nursery within a year of her marriage to Mukesh in 1985 after a courtship of three weeks.

Nita said that she was paid INR800 per month, before adding: “People used to laugh at me at that time but I think it gave me a lot of satisfaction.”

The old clip from Garewal’s show, “Rendezvous with Simi Garewal”, has garnered more than 3.3 million views on social media platform Instagram since being shared.

The video resurfaced after the rich couple hosted luxurious pre-wedding celebrations for their son Anant Ambani and his fiancee Radhika Merchant in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

The three-day event was attended by the world’s richest businessmen and celebrities including Microsoft Founder Bill Gates, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, singer Rihanna, and former White House advisor Ivanka Trump, among others.

The Ambanis reportedly spent around INR1,259 crore on the pre-wedding festivities, according to the Daily Mail.
