U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan will visit the Middle East over the weekend, traveling to Saudi Arabia on Saturday and Israel on Sunday, National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said in a statement.

In Israel, Sullivan will hold meetings with senior government officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the statement said. The ongoing war in Gaza, now in its eighth month, will be a focus of the talks, as well as the humanitarian crisis in the enclave and negotiations over a cease-fire deal to free the remaining hostages, Watson added.
