Dolphins have been involved in the US Navy military. Apart from dolphins, all other marine mammals can also be deployed.
A Beluga whale suspected to be trained by the Russian Navy was reportedly spotted off the coast of Norway in 2019. A fisherman reported that it wearing harnesses that may have held cameras.

Meet Codi the sea lion is part of the US navy’s defense against underwater threats such as mines. It has a marine mammal program that teaches sea lions, dolphins, and whales to protect its personnel and military assets.
The sea lions are trained in San Diego, California. But they can be deployed anywhere within 72 hours. Codi and other three sea lions are in Bahrain for the International Countermine Measures Exercise (IMCMEX). Two of them are protecting the port.
Brain Weisman, the operations supervisor for the US navy Marine mammal program says that they had a port security system that employs California sea lions and electronic sensors to ensure that underwater threats, swimmers, and divers cannot come into the port.
Codi has the opportunity to demonstrate his skills. It is tasked with finding a person in the water. It could be hunting an intruder or helping on a search and rescue mission in real life.

Areas and environments in ports are difficult for the system stem to do the same job. The US navy claimed one sea in, two handlers, and one rubber boat is so effective for hunting for objects on the ocean floor.
It can replace a full-size naval vessel and its crew – including a group of human divers and the doctor’s machinery necessary to support the diving operation. Two other sea lions are onboarding the USS ponce in the Persian Gulf to help with countermine measures.
