Job Description
The People & Organization Manager is the hands-on HR partner for multi-store retail operations. You’ll translate people strategy into day-to-day operational wins: ensuring optimal staffing, reinforcing standards through manager coaching, resolving employee relations matters swiftly and fairly, and delivering core P&O processes (performance, probation, talent identification, and improvement plans) with rigor and consistency. The role is ideal for retail-savvy HR professionals who love being present in stores, supporting leaders during peak trading windows, and using workforce analytics to drive decisions.
You will work closely with store general managers, department heads, and the recruitment and training teams to align labor plans with demand, accelerate onboarding, and strengthen frontline capabilities. A key part of the remit is embedding a culture of accountability and coaching: enabling managers to hold effective 1:1s, run fair investigations, document performance conversations properly, and close the loop on improvement plans. In short, you’ll be the engine that keeps people processes timely, compliant, and business-relevant.
Key Responsibilities
-
Workforce Planning & Staffing: Forecast labor demand, align schedules to traffic patterns and promotions, and coordinate with recruitment to hit fill-rate and time-to-hire targets.
-
Frontline Performance Reviews: Run regular store performance health checks, using KPIs like schedule adherence, overtime, absenteeism, and productivity to guide corrective action.
-
Employee Relations (ER): Manage grievances, investigations, and disciplinary actions with fairness, confidentiality, and full compliance with UAE labor law.
-
Onboarding & Training: Standardize onboarding journeys for new hires; monitor completion of mandatory trainings and accelerate time-to-productivity for frontline roles.
-
Attendance & Timekeeping: Track attendance trends across zones, identify hotspots, and implement targeted interventions (coach leaders on leave, overtime, and roster discipline).
-
P&O Process Execution: Ensure timely performance and probation reviews, talent identification, and performance improvement plans, with quality documentation and follow-through.
-
Change Enablement: Support operational changes (new archetypes, restructures, systems) and drive adoption with clear communication and shop-floor support.
-
Capability Building: Deliver coaching and short, practical workshops for store leaders on ER, feedback, documentation, and difficult conversations.
-
Data-Driven HR: Maintain accurate people data, build simple dashboards managers actually use, and tie insights to store outcomes (NPS, shrink, sales per labor hour).
-
Culture & Engagement: Promote a respectful, safe, and motivating environment that celebrates wins, listens to feedback, and recognizes strong performance.
Why This Role?
-
Direct line to impact: In multi-site retail, strong P&O execution shows up in customer satisfaction, basket size, and productivity. Your work is visible and measurable.
-
Scale and complexity: Manage a large frontline workforce with varied shifts, trade peaks, and seasonal nuances—excellent terrain for sharpening your HR leadership.
-
Career mobility: Majid Al Futtaim careers span retail, malls, communities, and leisure; high performers gain exposure to COEs (TA, L&D, Rewards) and regional projects.
-
Values-led culture: The mission of creating great moments fosters a people-first ethos—supportive of development, innovation, and continuous improvement.
-
Learning velocity: You’ll operate where business rhythm is fast and feedback loops are short—ideal for HR leaders who enjoy experimenting, measuring, and iterating.
Requirements
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
-
Experience: 5–7 years in P&O/HR, including at least 2–3 years in retail or another high-volume, multi-site environment.
-
Labor Law Expertise: Strong knowledge of UAE labor regulations, policies, documentation standards, and ethical investigation practice.
-
Workforce Planning: Proficiency in forecasting, roster optimization, time & attendance systems, and overtime control.
-
ER & Case Management: Proven experience handling grievances, investigations, and disciplinary procedures end-to-end.
-
Coaching & Enablement: Ability to upskill managers on feedback, documentation, and performance conversations; confident delivering store-floor training.
-
Analytics & Tools: Comfortable with HRIS/WFM tools, building lightweight dashboards, and using metrics to inform decisions.
-
Language: Arabic speaker (must) with strong English communication skills.

FAQs
1) What makes this role different from typical HR Business Partner jobs?
The P&O Manager is closer to the shop floor, with frequent store visits and hands-on coaching of line managers. You’ll still partner strategically, but the emphasis is on execution: staffing accuracy, ER cycle time, training compliance, and day-to-day performance rhythms that directly impact customers.
2) Is Arabic really mandatory?
Yes. Given the broad frontline engagement across UAE hypermarkets, Arabic fluency is essential for effective communication, coaching, and case handling. Strong English is also expected for cross-functional collaboration and reporting.
3) What tools should I be comfortable with?
Time & attendance and workforce management systems, HRIS, and basic analytics tools (spreadsheets or BI). If you can build simple dashboards that leaders check weekly—attendance, overtime, training completion—you’ll stand out.
4) What growth paths exist within Majid Al Futtaim careers?
High performers can move into larger P&O portfolios (more zones/stores), center-of-expertise roles (TA, L&D, Rewards), or cross-business opportunities within the group’s broader ecosystem (malls, communities, leisure). Mobility is a real differentiator here.
