Meghan Markle reads to children in first public appearance since Kate’s cancer diagnosis

Prince Harry could be in a “painful place” after writing about the Princess of Wales in his controversial book Spare, a palace expert claimed.

Royal commentator Tessa Dunlop suggested that the Duke of Sussex could be in a painful place following Kate’s cancer diagnosis now his work can’t be retracted.

Kate continues to undergo treatment for cancer that was revealed in a shock video announcement to the world on 22 March.

“When you do discover that your sister-in-law has cancer and you’ve written stuff that can’t be retracted, that’s quite a painful place to be in. I’m not saying it isn’t,” Ms Dunlop said.

Harry included claims that Kate made Meghan cry and also encouraged Harry to wear his infamous Nazi Halloween costume as a teenager.

Meanwhile, royal biographer Tom Quinn claimed the Duke would swerve a royal wedding this year to avoid an awkward encounter with William.

He said the Duke would miss the wedding of Hugh Grosvenor, the 7th Duke of Westminster, in June, as it would be “too awkward”.

Prince William is set to attend the ceremony in Chester, Cheshire, as Grosvenor is Prince George’s godfather, Mr Quinn said.

King Charles ‘has sparkle back’ after Easter appearance, says royal expert

King Charles has a “sparkle in his eye” following his surprise walkabout to greet members of the public after the Easter Sunday service yesterday (31 March), a royal biographer has said. Aides working for the monarch have been criticised for allowing him to make a “very strange” move during his Easter Sunday appearance. Royal commentator Angela Levin said allowing the monarch to greet well-wishers after attending the Easter Sunday service at Windsor Castle was “misguided”, but said the King, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment, looked “well” and had “a sparkle in his eye”.

Carole Middleton: The quiet driving force keeping Kate and William’s family together after cancer diagnosis

A source close to the Middletons told The Independent: “Carole has been the driving force keeping the family together with minimum fuss and maximum modesty.

“She’s ferried and fetched George, Louis and Charlotte, taken them to school sports matches and given them endless support. She’s been a real Mary Poppins-like figure.”

The source described Carole, 69, who in 1987 founded Party Pieces, a company selling supplies for children’s parties, as having provided the young family with the “three R’s”. They said: “She’s come to the rescue, provided reassurance, and has been a rock to Catherine and William as they come to terms with the news.”
