Kareena Kapoor’s rendition of Sharmila Tagore’s sharara was a blend of tradition and modernity, infused with her own unique sense of style. The timeless elegance of the outfit was restored and further embellished by revivalist and veteran designer Ritu Kumar.

The sharara set comprised a tissue rust-orange kurta with a matching dupatta featuring heavy gold embroidery and sharara pants with a contrasting, mint green border. “It took six months to conceive and recreate the odhni and the outfit. The outfit was a divided sharara with a long tail, which needed two people to hold from the back while walking. The tail was made shorter so that Kareena was comfortable and could walk with ease,” Kumar told Vogue in an interview.

Ritu Kumar’s masterpiece featured a voluminous lehenga adorned with exquisite zardozi work, sequins, and pearls, meticulously handcrafted to perfection. The silhouette accentuated Kareena’s slender frame, draping her in sheer elegance. The intricate detailing on the lehenga showcased Ritu Kumar’s unparalleled craftsmanship and attention to detail.
