Job Description: History Teacher (With Possible Head of Department Role)

Position: History Teacher with possible Head of Department (HoD) Role
Contract Duration: 2 Years
Start Date: 1st August 2025

Hillcrest International Schools, a prestigious Braeburn Group of Schools member, is seeking a talented and enthusiastic History Teacher to join its secondary school faculty. This role has the potential for assuming the Head of Department (HoD) responsibilities, offering candidates a unique leadership opportunity alongside teaching.


Role and Responsibilities

Teaching Responsibilities

  1. Develop and deliver a dynamic and engaging history curriculum for secondary school students.
  2. Foster a stimulating learning environment that inspires academic excellence and critical thinking.
  3. Use diverse teaching strategies to cater to various learning needs and styles.
  4. Monitor and assess student progress through regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

Leadership (If Appointed as HoD)

  1. Lead the History Department by fostering a collaborative and forward-thinking culture.
  2. Coordinate departmental activities, including curriculum planning, resource allocation, and performance evaluations.
  3. Mentor and support fellow teachers in the department.
  4. Represent the department in school-wide leadership and decision-making activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Educational Background: A degree in History or a related field, with a postgraduate teaching qualification.
  • Experience:
    • Proven teaching experience in a similar role.
    • Leadership experience (for candidates applying for the HoD role) is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
    • Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success.
