Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher’s divorce comes amid the former’s controversy with Rebel Wilson, however, the two situations are completely unrelated, according to a source.
The 52-year-old comedic actor and his wife put out a joint statement on their Instagram stories with a picture of themselves in tennis gear.
“After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritized our privacy and have been quietly working through this change,” they penned.
The estranged couple continued, “We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”
Their marital woes comes after Rebel shared her difficult working experience with Sacha in her memoir Rebel Rising as she called him a “massive a**hole” who’s now threatening her.
An insider told US Weekly that Sacha and Isla have been living separately since last year, meaning that their rift has nothing to do with the Pitch Perfect star.
“They have been living separate lives since last year but wanted to give this space and time for their children to be OK with this before the news came out and they got all this attention. They are notoriously very private people and wanted to focus on their family,” they claimed.
