What’s on TV This Week: ‘Mary & George’ and Lots of ‘Law & Order’

For those who still haven’t cut the cord, here is a selection of cable and network TV shows, movies and specials that broadcast this week, May 6-12. Details and times are subject to change.

THE PARENT TRAP (1998) 8 p.m. on Freeform. With Lindsay Lohan returning to the screen in “Irish Wish,” why not go back down memory lane? This movie stars Lohan as both Annie and Hallie (some flawless split-screening was involved), twins separated at birth who meet at summer camp and team up to get their divorced parents back together. One of their roadblocks is their dad’s girlfriend, Meredith Blake (Elaine Hendrix), who has gone down in Y2K history as one of its chicest villains.

VANDERPUMP RULES REUNION 8 p.m. on Bravo. This three-part reunion, which will rehash Season 11 of “Vanderpump Rules,” is a must-watch after the finale left lots of questions up in air, starting with: Is there a post-#Scandoval future for this reality show? The episode last week ended on a cliffhanger, with Ariana Madix walking out of filming after her ex boyfriend Tom Sandoval approached her at a party.

ROYAL RULES OF OHIO 10:30 p.m. on Freeform. On this brand-new reality show, three sisters, who claim to be descendants of Ghana royalty, try to balance day-to-day life in Columbus, Ohio, with their parents’ upper-crust expectations — shenanigans and mischief ensue. Since I blasted through all eight seasons of “Summer House” at an inappropriately fast rate, it’s exciting that there is a new reality show in the mix.

LAW & ORDER 8 p.m. on NBC. The franchise’s O.G. show celebrated a milestone this season — the penultimate episode of the season, which aired last week, was the show’s 500th. Maybe now the show can set its sights on beating “General Hospital’s” record: more than 15,000 episodes — and counting.

LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT 9 p.m. on NBC. Due to the writers and actors strike, Season 25 of this show was short but still packed it’s regular procedural punch. This is the season finale.

LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME 10 p.m. on NBC. The newest baby of the franchise is wrapping up its fourth season and finding a new home. Because the show has lagged behind its older counterparts in ratings, the fifth season will be airing only on Peacock.

MARY & GEORGE 9 p.m. on Starz. If you loved Nicholas Galitzine as a swoony boy band lead in “The Idea of You,” check him out in this mini-series with Julianne Moore as the Countess of Buckingham and Galitzine as her son George. Inspired by the novel “The King’s Assassin” by Benjamin Woolley, the mother and son duo use sex and charm for status-climbing in 17th-century Britain.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA (2006) 7:06 p.m. on HBO. Now that you’ve watched Anne Hathaway as a dreamy single mom who falls for Galitzine’s lead singer, take in one of her seminal roles. Hathaway plays Andy, a want-to-be journalist who takes a job as the assistant to Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the icy and powerful editor in chief of Runway Magazine. If you’re picturing a Anna Wintour type character and magazine similar to Vogue, you’re on the right track.

THE IRON CLAW (2023) 8 p.m. on HBO. Apparently, some people went into the theater thinking this movie was a lighthearted tale of wrestling and an excuse to admire Zac Efron but left sobbing inconsolably (OK, fine, it was me). The movie, based on the true story of Von Erich family, follows four wrestler brothers as they deal with unrelenting tragedy. It doesn’t take long “to know that the wildest scenes aren’t going to happen in the ring,” Manohla Dargis wrote in her review for The New York Times. “They’re going to take place in the family circle.”

AMERICAN IDOL 8 p.m. on ABC. This season of the singing competition show is coming to an end, and so is the impeccable group dynamic of Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and Katy Perry, as this is Perry’s last season. The three-hour finale will feature Jon Bon Jovi mentoring the season’s top three contestants as they prep for their final performance.
