Janhvi scores a hat-trick in method dressing | The Express Tribune

Known for her impeccable sense of style, Bollywood actress Janvhi Kapoor often raises the bar with her fashion choices. Recently the actress surprised her followers with a two-toned saree and customised blouse at the trailer launch event of her upcoming film, Mr and Mrs Mahi.

The Manish Malhotra red and blue design was paired with a red jersey-inspired blouse with her character’s name, Mahi, and the number six written on the back. With Janvhi playing the role of a cricketer in Mr and Mrs Mahi, the customised blouse embodied the theme of the film perfectly.

Successfully executed by Zendaya during the promotions for Dune and Challengers, method dressing is growing in popularity, with more actors using the trend to bring attention back to their films.

Janhvi recently engaged in a Q&A session on Instagram before the trailer launch for Mr and Mrs Mahi. The actress answered questions from fans and shared some behind-the-scenes glimpses of her getting ready for the event. During this session, a fan asked the Dhadak actress, “Is it true that you’re copying Zendaya?”

To which Janhvi replied, “Yes, I think I’m very heavily inspired by what she did for her Challengers film promotions. I feel like as actors we’re all encouraged to kind of do method dressing or dress similar to your characters when you’re promoting a film.”  

The Bawaal actress added, “When I saw Zendaya doing it and doing it so well, I realised that as actors there is a good amount of attention put on how we look and how we dress. If I can use that to bring attention back to my film then why not.”

It seems Janhvi has completely embraced the cricket theme of her film as she stepped out in a Surya Sarkar design last week to promote the flick. This look consisted of a crimson dress with cricket balls fastened to the back. The actress also recently posted a picture of herself on Instagram in a flowing black and white skirt, paired with a sequenced pink jersey with her character’s number six on it. 

Mr and Mrs Mahi is a sports drama film, which stars Janhvi alongside Rajkummar Rao. It follows the journey of a newly wed couple who team up with one mission in their minds: to play the best cricket of their lives. The film is set to hit big screens on May 31.
