It is always refreshing to see comfort being chosen over everything else and here are some cues on how to style the most impressive outfits without stilettos
Cannes is all about spreading glamour on the red carpet. The film festival features some of the best fashion moments showcased by A-listers who grace the event in their finest gowns and tuxedos. From heavily embellished shimmer gowns to stunning tuxedos, the dress code is always followed. Apart from the ensembles, stars also make sure they make the right choice in footwear.
For years, stilettos have been the top choice of actresses, however, there has been a noticeable change with more flats, loafer-style heels, and block ballerina heels being worn. Although, few still stuck to the timeless stilettos. So, let’s take a look at some of the best looks so far at Cannes, showcasing a variety of sandals.
Greta Gerwig
Greta Gerwig made a stunning appearance at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. She sported multiple looks, but the one that caught everyone’s attention was her blue striped dress from Maison Margiela. However, her choice of white Louboutin Tabi Pumps truly elevated her look. These white platform heels come from the collaboration of Christian Louboutin and John Galliano’s Maison Margiela Artisanal collection.
Hunter Schafer
For her blue metallic gown from luxury brand Armani’s archival Spring 2011 collection, Hunter Schafer chose matching footwear. The glistening heels perfectly complemented the hue of her gown which is crafted in a liquid, reflective satin.
Urvashi Rautela
Urvashi walked the red carpet in a bright pink strapless gown from designers Khaled & Marwan. Her gown boasts a plunging neckline, thigh-high slit, lacy gloves, and a tulle shrug covering her shoulders. Styling pieces that rounded off her look included: diamond earrings, bejewelled headband, and pink block heels adorned with straps.
Lily Gladstone
Another example of a platform pump was beautifully showcased by actress Lily Gladstone. She looked gorgeous in a white shirt dress, which was elevated by a few contrasting elements, including a cherry red Gucci belt and Gucci’s cherry red platform loafers. Her choice of footwear showcased a modern take on pin-thin heels worn nowadays.
Jane Fonda
Apart from pointed high heels and block heels, many stars were spotted rocking flats. For the screening of Le Deuxieme Acte, Jane Fonda walked the red carpet in an Elie Saab jumpsuit. To round off her look, she chose silver Margaux pointed-toe flats adorned with an adjustable strap.
Selena Gomez
While strolling through Cannes, Selena exuded grace in an all-white ensemble, donning a chic knit mini dress by the renowned clothing brand Self-Portrait. To add a contrast to her look, she opted for Roger Vivier’s mini buckle slingback pumps, adorned with black and white straps.
