Job Description
As a Process Design Engineer with ASMACS’ Kuwait programs, you will steer the full arc of process design for greenfield and brownfield scopes across Oil & Gas, Refinery, and Petrochemical facilities. Your mandate spans concept, FEED, detailed design, and commissioning support, converting design bases into safe, operable, and efficient plant designs that meet throughput, energy, and regulatory targets.
Key technical outputs include PFDs, P&IDs, Line Lists, Cause & Effect matrices, Tie-in Lists, and a comprehensive suite of process calculations—from pump/system hydraulics and control valve sizing to equipment/line sizing, PSV/TSV sizing, and surge analysis. You’ll model and validate with Aspen Plus (process), HTRI (thermal rating), FlareNet (relief/flare networks), and PipeNet (flow networks), and maintain intelligent P&IDs in SPPID.
Beyond design, the role emphasizes process safety: you’ll participate in HAZOP, SIL, QRA, and PHSER, own action closure, and ensure relief and flare systems are verified against credible scenarios and relevant codes. You’ll also prepare control philosophies, O&M manuals, and commissioning procedures, and work cross-functionally with Mechanical, Piping, E&I, Civil, and Operations to close interface gaps and keep deliverables audit-ready.
Key Responsibilities
-
Foundational Deliverables: Produce/maintain PFDs, P&IDs, Line Lists, Cause & Effect, Tie-ins, linked cleanly to the design basis and project standards.
-
Core Calculations: Execute pump hydraulics/system curves, equipment and line sizing, PSV/TSV sizing, surge/transient analysis, and relief load calculations.
-
Simulation & Modelling: Build robust Aspen Plus models; run HTRI thermal ratings; configure FlareNet for blowdown and relief; analyze networks with PipeNet.
-
Data Sheets & Vendor Engagement: Prepare process data sheets for vessels, exchangers, pumps, compressors, and instruments; perform vendor package reviews for compliance.
-
Control & Operations: Author control philosophies, trip logic, and start-up/shutdown strategies; sync DCS/SIS with Cause & Effect and loop narratives.
-
Process Safety: Participate in HAZOP/SIL/QRA/PHSER; manage action tracking; validate relief and flare systems against standards and ALARP principles.
-
SPPID/Data Integrity: Maintain intelligent P&IDs with consistent tagging, line classes, and metadata for downstream engineering.
-
Commissioning Readiness: Produce O&M and commissioning documentation; support SATs, function tests, leak tests, and readiness reviews.
-
Optimization: Identify and quantify energy, yield, and throughput improvements; propose debottlenecking initiatives tied to project KPIs.
-
Stakeholder Collaboration: Interface daily with multi-discipline leads and site operations; ensure first-time-right deliverables and schedule adherence.
-
Compliance & Governance: Apply client/company standards and international codes; maintain audit-ready documentation and robust MoC discipline.
